Reception - POP! FIZZLE! BANG!

Date: 10th Nov 2017 @ 3:04pm

We have had a wonderful week in Reception based on our excitement around bonfire night.  We looked at videos of fireworks and shared our own experiences.  We learned a fireworks poem using actions and a story map. If you ask us at home, we may be able to show it to you.

We all found out about the artist 'Jackson Pollock' and used him as an inspiration to create our own Pollock style firework paintings.  We thought about the sounds that the fireworks make and used our developing phonic knowledge to write some simple words.  These paintings are up in the classroom on our washing line, if you would like to see them.

Later in the week, we had a go at writing up the firework poem together and some of us had a go at writing them on our own.

Around the classroom we have also had various firework themed enhancements to help us to be challenged during our own learning time.

In maths this week, we have been using estimating and comparison skills.  The teachers have been very impressed at the number development over the past few weeks.

See you all next week,

Mrs Jobber & Mrs Partington
