Reception - Watch out there's a sneaky fox!

Date: 13th Oct 2017 @ 3:51pm

This week in Reception we have been learning all about farms and we have introduced our new class story Rosie's Walk. We read the story as a class and learned it off by heart. We  have added in our own actions. All of the adults  were amazed at how quickly the children have picked it up for their first time!

In our story the sneaky fox follows the hen all of the way through who is completely oblivious. We talked about other characters that are sneaky, such as the wolf from Little Red Riding Hood.

The children have been using the farm to re-tell the story outside and  have created  foxes and chicks during their learning time out of different materials. They are fantastic!

We looked at the different environments that chickens are kept in  and how they lay their eggs. We  all agreed that free range is the most caring. After looking at how they are kept, we cracked an egg and talked about the different parts. The children were amazed with what came out (unfortunately not a little chick). We used our eggs to create fairy cakes together and enjoyed them for our snack today. They were very tasty!

In maths we have been comparing and ordering numicon shapes. We have talked about which is the smallest, medium sized and biggest. The children, in pairs, had a go themselves.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.

See you on Monday!
