What a great start we've had to this half term in Year 1!

This week we have been taking part in our whole school Remebrance week, learning about World War I. We have learnt about poppies and why we wear them. We have talked about soldiers, their sacrifice and what it would have been like to be a solider in World War 1. We have also learnt about animals who helped in World War I, and designed our own medals to celebrate their achievements. In English, we wrote acrostic poems about poppies and we also took part in some poppy themed art work. Its been a very busy week!

We have also been working hard on our reading as a class- practising recalling our sounds and reading red words. In maths we have been working on understanding and using number lines and part-whole models.

We had a fantastic time on Friday morning when we were lucky enough to go to the cinema to see Sherlock Gnomes. The children had a great time and were fantasically behaved! Well done Team 1 for a super week!
