Team 3: 1.3.19

Date: 1st Mar 2019 @ 4:41pm

Well it has been a very busy first week back in Team 3! Rehearsals for our class assembly are well under way and I'm already a proud teacher as they are obviously learning their lines at home! We have also been engrossed in our Geography themed week with lots of fun acitivities and outdoor learning.

On Monday, we started by looking at the book 'Where my Wellies Take Me', a series of poems collected by the character Pippa, who collects poems, drawings and the things she finds as she goes out on her walks. We headed straight out ourselves and took our sketching paper, charcoal and grapite to get inspiration from our woodlands which we then turned into poetry later in the week.

On Wednesday, we really enjoyed our walk to Helsby, improving our map and orientation skills as well as completing sketches and creating a whole class poem using our senses. When we returned to school, we put even more of our map reading skills to use by exploring the school's new orienteering course! We have enjoyed turning our sketches and photographs from our walk into paintings this morning, which will soon be put together to form a big class map of our walk.

In Maths, we made pictograms using the data we collected from surveys on Wednesday in Helsby and have begun to work on dividing using a number line. In this method, we start with our number and jump back in steps of teh numebr we are dividing by in order to find how many jumps are needed. For example, we start with 24 and count back in 4s on the number line to find out how many times 4 fits into 24.

Children were brilliant once again in swimming this week and I can already see some improvements! The children are really enjoying their time in the pool! Please help us and the children by making sure all uniform and kit is labelled as this will making getting changed back into uniform much easier in the coming weeks.

Have a lovely weekend and I hope to see many of you at our class assembly at 9:10am next Friday!
