Happy New Year! What a fantastic start it has been! Everyone has come in refreshed and ready to learn with a brilliant attitude to learning! We have been finishing off addition and subtraction this week with some tricky missing number work which everyone has tackled with great determination.

In English, we have been recapping our use of capital letters for proper nouns, using apostrophes for contractions and using apostrophes for possession. We have also started looking at one of our new books, 'This Morning I Met A Whale'  by Michael Morpurgo.  Today we wrote letters to Davis Attenborough, Blue Planet Aquarium and Chester Zoo to find out more about whales to practise writing questions.

We have also started our new Science and History topics- Forces ans Magnets and Ancient Egyptians. We were all very keen to share what we already know about the topics. We found out that a force is a push or pull acting on an object and used our map skills to plot the River Nile and important places in Egypt on a map. We also used Google Earth to explore inside a tomb in the Valley of the Kings.

In P.E. we have been focusing on team building activities which we all really enjoyed on Wednesday. We showed fantastic communication skills and had great fun too!

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Delaney
