Team 3: 29.3.19

Date: 29th Mar 2019 @ 5:50pm

Well what a way to end the half-term! We are so proud of everyone who had the bravery to take part in the Horn's Mill's Got Talent auditions on Monday and a huge congratulations to IT, DE and ND who made the finals!

On Tuesday, we had an amazing trip to the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester. First, we had some time to explore in the experiment gallery where we could try out lots of different experiments, including a bike that made electricity when you pedalled and an infinity well. We even managed to lift up a Mini! We then took part in the 'Wonder of Light' workshop in which we unravelled some magic tricks to find out the science behind them- we even chopped RP's head off! (don't worry, it was just some clever mirrors) In the afternoon, we had time to explore the rest of the museum in our groups and looked at lots of different engines and machines, as well as old trains, Stephenson's rocket and lots to do with electricity.

In English, we watched an animation of the destruction of Pompeii and used it, along with our book, to create diary entries. We practised including adverbs, prepositions and conjunctions to add detail and made sure to write in paragraphs. We have also been learning how to form and use the present perfect tense which we use to talk about an event that happened in the past but is still happening or is linked to what is now happening. (I have put on my sunglasses because it is bright outside).

In maths, we have continued our work on money with additions of different amounts and begun to look at how to calculate giving change.

Hope you all have a fantastic break!
