Team 3 wb 28.6.21

What a busy week we have had in Team 3!

In our English lessons, we have been learning what a synonym is and how we can use a thesaurus to develop our vocabulary in order to use new and exciting language. Alongside this, we also have been learning how to use a range of coherent features in order to make our writing flow and ensure ideas are linked. We consolidated this learning by creating a short burst write about a spooky forest where we applied all of these skills that we had learnt.

In our spelling learning, we explored homophones. We learnt that some words sound the same but have different meanings. You can help your child consolidate their learning by practising the following words:

Hear and here

There, their and they’re

Know and no

In maths, we have been learning to order fractions. We have been exploring the role of the numerator and denominator in helping us to order fractions and then used a range of practical apparatus to help us visualise and see different fractions in order to compare them. We then ended the week by applying this learning and tackling a range of fluency, word problem and reasoning questions.

In our afternoon learning, we continued developing our throwing and catching skills and applied these skills in games of dodgeball. We learnt how to use the space available on a court, how to be aware of team mates around us and how we can use tactics to help us work as a team. In our topic learning, we continued learning about the earth focussing on the equator. We learnt why climates differ from the UK in countries that are closer to the equator and also the impact global warming is having on countries around the world.

Have a fantastic weekend Team 3.

See you on Monday ?
