Good afternoon!

What a mixed bag of weather we have had this week. Thankfully the rain hasn't put the dampeners on our learning.

We have been busy bees in Team 3 and have worked hard across all our subjects. In English, we have continued to write about our class book (Seal Surfer). We have been recognising what is needed to make a full sentence, how to correctly demarcate sentences and how to make our sentences more interesting by using exciting vocabulary. In reading, we have started our new class novel 'The Snow Queen' by Hans Christian Anderson. We have explored how beauty on the outside doesn't necessary make a person behave nicely and all agreed that what is inside matters. We used the phrase 'never judge a book by its cover.'

In Maths, we have looked at addition and subtraction facts and explored 'commutative law' when adding 2 numbers together. We have practised using a number line, part-whole model and bar model to pictorially represent calculations. We continue to learn our times tables, particularly 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s and are often set some times tables questions during our morning challenge time in additon to our weekly test.

In RE, we have started to learn about Hinduism and the traditions and festivals relevant to this religion. Through video clips and books, we studied the festival of Holi and know that it is a festival of colour, it lasts for 2 days and occurs on the first full moon in March. It welcomes spring and Hindus get toegther with their friends and family to throw coloured paint powder at each other, eat, visit the temple and light bonfires. It looks great fun!

Have a great weekend.
