This week in Team 3...

In our English lessons this week we have been drafting and writing our humourous poems, based on the poem 'A Sea Creature ate my teacher' by Brian Moses. The children have been learning about rhyming couplets and powerful verbs and having a go at adding them to their own poems. We hope to show these off to the Year 6's next week!

In Maths we have been learning more about multiplication and division. We have been learning strategies to help us recall the x3 and x4 tables then moving onto x8 next. We have been learning about 'the inverse operation' and how division is simply the inverse of multiplication. At this stage we are learning to become fluent with these targets before we tackle reasoning and problem solving challenges.

In our afternoon learning we are fully immersed in preparing for our school Christmas production 'Children of the World' with rehearsals becoming more frequent as we nearer show time on the 6th December. Running alongside this is our class Christmas topic, which is 'European Christmas traditions'. The children have been learning how families celebrate Christmas in Spain and Italy as we plan to open our very own Horn's Mill Christmas Markets on the 16th December.

Finally, letters are going home regarding our Team 3 & 4 trip into Manchester next week to see the European Markets first hand. We're are hoping the children will come back with plenty of ideas to create decorations and produce festive foods from our chosen countries. The children are very excited about this trip (as are the staff) and we hope it will enable the children to create a magical atmosphere during our own Market opening on the 16th December.

That's it for this week!
