Team 2 WB: 16.5.22

Date: 20th May 2022 @ 4:01pm

My proudest week yet!! The resilience, understanding and strength Team 2 have shown this past week has been incredible. Throughout the week, Team 2 have been completing a range of SATs papers to support our end of year judgements. They have behaved and completed the test so maturely, it just goes to show how ready they are for Team 3!

This week has also been our sustainability week in Science. We have explored the three scientific R’s- recycle, reuse and reduce as well as ‘Where does our rubbish go?’ So, first we looked at the cycle of what happens to our rubbish from us putting it in the bin in our classroom, to it ending up in a recycling factory or landfill. Then, we explored what recycling was and how we can implement it in our homes and classrooms. After exploring the impact of liter, we went on a trip around our school to find as much litter as we can. We came back to the classroom and sorted the different materials out to look at how much of it could have been recycled! Finally, we looked at the different things we can do in our homes to reduce the use of electricity as well as the different household items we can reuse. One of the things we discovered that we reuse is water. So, on Friday we carried out an experiment to test which material would be best to filter dirty water. We tried using a paper plate, a plastic bag, a tissue and some cotton wool, the cotton wool was the best!

Keeping in theme with our science week, in English, we created a story map of the cycle of what happens to our waste once we have finished with it. We then applied this into a piece of writing to show a set of instructions about what happens to our rubbish.

We have also been super busy rehearsing our jubilee song for Monday- hopefully lots of you can join us to watch the whole school preform the song!! We finished the week strong with Mouse Mania on the field with some cakes provided Mrs Fletcher. Have a lovely weekend and I’ll see you on Monday!
