Reception - Fireworks

Hello everyone.

Welcome back - I hope you all had a lovely week off!

We have had a great first week back! We've focused our learning on Bonfire Night this week with lots of enhancements based upon this theme. Children have had the opportunitiy to create a firework, practice writing some tricky words in the glitter, write different numbers in the firework dust and create a firework bottle in the water. We've been learning about Guy Fawkes and why he is associated with Bonfire Night. 

Alongside this learning, we have also touched on World War 1! Children have learnt what a solider is and what they do. We talked about how soliders earn medals and children had the opportunity to make their own war medal. We also learnt about the poppy, what it means and why we wear one. Lots of children chose to make their own poppies during their learning time.
