Reception - Phonic fun
Date: 22nd Sep 2017 @ 7:00pm
We've come to the end of another fab week! This week, children have been developing their knowledge of letter sounds as we have had Ready Steady Read sessions every morning. So far we have learned m, a, s, t, n, i, p, c and we will continue learning the sounds of the alphabet. We will learn a new sound a day and review previous taught sounds. Ask your child about 'pure sounds', they're very important!
We have started to play lots of games to help us hear different sounds, thinking about hearing initial sounds in words. Try playing at home.... have a bag of objects, e.g. Dog, hat, top, etc and take it in turns to pull the items out. Get your child to say the sound that object begins with. Games like 'I spy' are also great for this.
We are all a lot more familiar with the routines of school and this week we had a go at getting changed into our PE kits for our PE lesson with Mr Horabin. We were all super at this and lots of us are becoming very independent with getting changed, even with very tricky bits like tights!!
Also this week, we have been exploring number through the use of Numicon. We have been learning about the different Numicon shapes and which number they represent.
Pirate play has been going on during continuous provision, with children creating pirate ships with the outdoor blocks, making flags and creating sails for their ship! Due to this interest, next week we will have different enhancements around the class to help children develop different skills through this theme. Look out for our weekly learning sheets that will begin from next week. We will add them to our page on the website.
Have a lovely weekend everyone,
Mrs Jobber and Miss Partington
