Reception - Science Week
Date: 4th Mar 2018 @ 6:04pm
We have had a week full of curiosity and wonder in Reception. The week began with our egg delivery and it was so exciting to watch the little chicks emerge out of the eggs. We have been keeping a chick observation diary as the chick's have developed, where we have been drawing and writing about what we have observed. This book is in the classroom by the chicks, so please do have a look when you're in the classroom. We are loving watching the chicks get stronger and those of us who wanted to have had a hold. Some of us were a bit weary earlier in the week but as the week has gone on we've decided to hold them!! The chicks will be in the class for a few weeks until they outgrow the box; they will then have a larger box to move into before they move into the coop in our woodlands. Next week, we are going to think about chick names.
Across the week we have also been using the books, 'Flashlight' and 'The Lost Words' to look at different woodland animals. We watched videos and looked at images of owls, using this to then create our own owl poetry. These will be on display soon so keep an eye out!
We have also been taking part in various experiments. Our favourite was the mentos in coke!! It made quite a mess which was thoroughly enjoyed. We pretended to be scientists and created our own lab reports explaining what happened in the experiment.
We all really enjoyed World Book Day too. What wonderful costumes we had in the class! We took part in a school parade and went looking for some missing lost words all around school with our Team 6 buddies.
We hope you have had a lovely weekend and will see you all tomorrow.
