Reception - WB 11.11.24
Date: 15th Nov 2024 @ 12:41pm
Good Afternoon everyone,
We have enjoyed continuing to read our class story 'I'm going to eat this eat' during Literacy sessions this week. When reading, we found out about the anteater deciding to eat all of the ants in things that begin with a ‘s’ - we thoroughly enjoyed listening to this part of the story. During Learning Time, children have been encouraged to play phonics games to hear and identify the initial sounds in foods the anteater likes. We have worked on being about the label and write these initial sounds too, with increasing independence.
During maths sessions this week, we have focused on the number ‘5’. We have learnt a new number rhyme called 'five little peas in a pea pod pressed'. We have also introduced Numberblock 5 to our number team and learnt how to describe her. We have explored ways to represent numbers to 5 using both our fingers and dice pattern frames. We have become more confident with counting up to 5 using 1-1 correspondence and finding out how many we have in our representations ‘all together’.
As part of our curriculum learning in the afternoon, we have been learning how to look after ourselves, including how we brush our teeth and the importance of this. We have learnt what it's like to visit the dentist and what the dentist doesn when we are there. We are becoming such independent little people - this is what Reception is all about! :)
Have a great weekend,
Mrs Davies
