Reception - WB 16.9.24

Hi everyone,

We have really began to cement our routines this week in Reception and the children are becoming extremely confident with our day-to-day tasks. We have continued with our funky finger sessions, daily mile, and learning time.

We have increased our activities within our 'Ready Steady Read' session in the mornings and are now learning and writing single letter sounds. So far we have learnt - m,a,s,d,t,i. We have practiced recalling these and idenfifying objects that begin with these sounds. We have learnt letter rhymes to help us when forming our letters too. We have also met our new friend called 'Fred the Frog' who help us to orally sound out and blend words together. Fred only talks in sounds, so we have to guess the words he is trying to tell us e.g. c-a-t = CAT. Try this at home!

We have been following the theme of 'My Family' this week and have got to know about each other's families and who lives in our houses. We have talked about the different types of houses we live in too. We created our own family pictures, which are on display in our classroom.
