Reception - WB 2.12.24

Date: 6th Dec 2024 @ 4:24pm

Hi all,

We have been working so hard on our Christmas performance of 'Santa's Hat' and we were so excited to perform it for you all on Thursday. The children were all fabulous and all the Reception staff were so proud of them. It can be very overwhelming to perform, sing and say lines in a room full of grown ups to sing but the children all did it wonderfully! Thank you to all parents and families for joining us too.

Back in class we have been learning about the Church this week. We have explored why people go there, what they do and what a church looks like. We linked this to Christmas and how the Church is an important place at this time of year. Mrs Baskeyfield taught us all about a Christening and what happens during this service. The children were shown how the water is poured on a babies head and what this means. The children have enjoyed exploring elements of the Church that have been around our classroom this week, including the Bible.

During maths, we have been exploring the Numberblocks stampoline patterns and how numbers to 5 can be represented in different ways. We created our own stampoline patterns using paint and paper, ensuring that we knew the same number can look different each time. The link to the episode is here, if children want to watch at home.https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08dnngm/numberblocks-series-1-stampolines

Have a great weekend,

Mrs Davies & Mrs Baskeyfield
