Arghhhhhhhhh me mateys!
Well what a wonderful start to the term in Reception so far this week!
We've had map reading, treasure finding, pirate ship building and painting, pirate dressing up day and even tropical fruit tasting (collected by pirates on their voyages!).
The children have enjoyed this massively and thankyou for all the efforts with costumes, they all look fabulous!!
In literacy our pirate theme guided us to designing and labeling our own treasure map, and we also enjoyed designing our own pirate costumes and writing about what those pirates were wearing!
We have squeezed in a little about healthy eating too, learning a new song and sorting out which foods are healthy and which foods are not. The chidlren loved tasting the tropical fruits this week including pinapple, mango, kiwi fruit and watermelon. (Watermelon was a huge hit!).
Maths has been all about how to make 6 and 7 this week. The children loved learning a song to support this, espeically when the fish bit 'this little finger on my right!'
We will also start to look at number formation this term, writing numbers correctly.
Thats all for now!
