Reception - WB 25.9.23
Date: 28th Sep 2023 @ 4:34pm
Hi all,
We have noticed lots of children are becoming much more independent with finding and putting on their coats this week - thank you for all your support at home with this. We will continue with this in school too.
During our learning time this week, we have enjoyed completing lots of the new challenges that have been out around the classroom. These challenges have been pirate themed and the children have really enjoyed this topic. We have been putting treasure on a stick to encourage the use of our 'funky fingers' , making pirate stories with the pirate ship and have been saying and writing the sounds on the golden coins. These are just a few of the challenges that have kept the children busy this week. They have really enjoyed role playing and getting into character as pirates. This led to creating a large pirate ship outside using all the crates, flags and pipes.
We have started our maths sessions this week, where we have been looking at the numbers 1,2,3. We have used the Numberblocks to help us recognise these numbers and have used our fingers to represent these numbers. We have focused lots of subitising and recognising 1,2,3 instantly.
We have introudced the Mighty Writer mat this week too and children have enjoyed creating their own stories using the pictures. Children have been re-telling their stories to their friends and teachers. See pictures on X (Twitter).
Have a great weekend,
Mrs Davies and the Reception Team
