Reception - WB 27.2.23

Good Afternoon,

We have started our new text in Literacy this week called 'The Pirates are Coming' and the children have absolutely thrilled with all of the pirate challenges around the classroom. We were left a treasure hunt to complete by the 'pirates' and the children following the clues outside which led to the treasure. We talked about what pirates do, what they are like and where they go. We looked specifically at a treasure chest and what goes inside, then completed some writing on this. I think the children are really going to love this story!!!

During maths, we have been looking at combining groups together and beginning to use the vocabulary 'add' and 'altogther. We've used lots of different games including Numicon, part part whole models and dominos to practice this concept - we will continue more next week.

Friday was World Book Day in school!! It was SO lovely to see so many amazing costumes and the children lovely being able to show them off. We read lots of stories throughout the day, has a story from a 'mystery reader' and listened to stories/poems in assembly. It was a lovely day.

Just a reminder that please can all reading books and reading logs be kept in children's book bags at all times. Thanks so much for your support everyone.
