Reception - WB 30.9.24
Date: 6th Oct 2024 @ 12:04pm
This week in Reception we have fully began our learning topics and themes, as children have fully settled into our school rules and routines so well.
During our Literacy focused session, we have started a brand new story book ‘The Gingerbread Man’. At the start of the week, the children received a mystery parcel, which led to the children making their own Gingerbread Men. As we continued the week, we read the first pages of the story and meet the characters Mr and Mrs Baker. We will be completing activities to encourage the children to draw/mark make.
Our maths sessions this week, have allowed children to explore how numbers can be composed of 1s and, from this, we started to investigate the composition of 3 and 4. We learnt to use the stem sentence 1 and another 1 makes 2. We used the Numberblocks to help us establish this concept.
During our afternoon curriculum learning, we have explored the season 'Autumn'. We learnt about the features of autumn and how the leaves change colour and fall of the tress. We also learnt about the seeds we see in the autumn, including acorns and conkers. We went on a welly walk to spot all the different signs of autumn.
We're looking forward to Delamere Forest on Monday - remember your wellies!
