Hi everyone,

What a lovely week we've had in Reception! We started the week looking for signs of spring on a little walk around the school grounds.  We spotted daffodils, seedlings, birds and even blossom starting to grow on the trees.  Some children thought they could see a lamb high on a hill but we are still waiting to spot that!!  Best day ever according to some children! (not sure it beat the pirate day though!)  World book day was also a huge hit.  Thankyou for all your efforts with the costumes.  Everyone looked great!

In literacy we have been using our phonics knowledge to label parts of a pirate ship, and have been extending our writing describing what we could see on a pirate picture.  The children really enjoyed this.  Maths this week has been all about numberblocks playing peek a boo! Arranging numbers 1 - 8 in order and discussing which number is bigger / smaller and can therefore hide behind which number. This really capured the childrens imagination!

We have also learnt a little bit more French today so don't be suprise if your child ask you "ca va?" (sa va).  They are asking you how you are feeling and you might reply "ca va bien" (I am good!).
