T1 WB 24th March
Date: 28th Mar 2025 @ 10:15am
This week in T1, we've had lots of fun.
In maths, we’ve moved onto looking at multiplication, focusing on equal grouping. We have used the STEM sentence 'There are ... equal groups of ...'. e.g. There are 4 equal groups of 10.
We have also been practising our ten times table and are feeling much more confident. We've been using the Numberbocks ten times table song to help us remember, so it would be great if you could encourage the use of this at home too!
In history, we've continued looking at Chester zoo. We created a timeline in our books, comparing it to our own local history, such as when Horn's Mill was built and when we started school. We also looked at the clothes people wore to the zoo and how this is different to what we would wear to the zoo today. We even designed our own outfits.
In Art, we continued looking at Pablo Picasso, focusing on his use of colour. This week, we explored primary colours and learnt that we could make secondary colours when we mixed these together. We had lots of fun making our own colours and seeing how creative we could get.
In science, we took part in 2 fun lessons this week. We were exploring our senses and how we might sort things using them. We worked as a team to group items and we became shop keepers, creating signs such as 'This shop sells smooth and hard things.' We also looked at durability using biscuits to help us. We used custard creams, Nice biscuits and digestives to see which one would last the longest when dunked in liquid. We had lots of fun making predictions and seeing if we were correct.
On Thursday afternoon, we watched the KS1 Horn's Mill's got talent auditions. A very well done to everyone who took part. The whole of T1 was very proud of them and we are thrilled to say that the children were an amazing audience. CONGRATULATIONS to our finalists in Team 1. A letter has been sent home with your child in their reading record if they made it to the final stage.
Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who brought in an Easter egg/gift today. Please don't forget about Easter bingo on 1st April and our Easter raffle.
Have a great weekend!
