Happy half term, superstars!
This week has been a short one, but full of royal fun.
We celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on Monday with a whole school picnic. Thank you to everyone who was available to join us, we hope you had fun despite the damp weather. We think the children were absolutely amazing in our Jubilee song performance! We are so proud of them.
In English this week we wrote about why we should be queen/king, and what qualities would make a good monarch. We also began practising some poetry readings for our whole school poetry recital after the half term break. You will have received a link by text this morning with some poetry suggestions, but please feel free to let your child select their own poem if they prefer. We practised using expression in our voices as we read, and introduced some actions. We cannot wait to see and hear their performances next half term.
In Design and Technology, we designed a suit for our Bee-bots. The children also brought home their soft toys made last week, and they looked absolutely fabulous. Hopefully they will enjoy playing with their toys at home.
This morning (Wednesday) we took part in a sharing assembly about our learning for sustainability week, and again the children blew our socks off with their presentation in front of the whole school. Well done, little bees!
We hope you have a super half term break, and will see you on our return on Tuesday 7th June (the week of our phonics screening check). With that in mind, it would be beneficial to continue reading regularly with your child over the break.
See you soon, Team 1!
Mrs Weeks, Miss Evans and Mrs Butters.
