We began our week with some European language learning on Monday for European Day of Languages. We learned about the importance of being able to speak other people’s languages. This week we have been learning greetings in French, and even had a storytime completely in French acting out ‘Les Trois Petits Cochons’ (The Three Little Pigs).
In maths this week, we have been comparing numbers to 10, and finding one more and one less than a given number. The children have been introduced to number tracks and number lines used to represent amounts of objects.
In English, we have been writing about some animals which have been lost, taking inspiration from our class text, ‘Lost and Found’. The children have been working hard at including finger spaces in their writing.
In science, we are learning about everyday materials, and we managed to find the ‘odd one out’ on a tray of objects. We discovered that the odd one out was made from a different material to the other items. Then the children had a go at creating their own ‘odd one out’ trays, collecting 4 items, all but one of which were made from the same material.
In PE, we learned about the importance of trust in games. We worked in partners and guided a blindfolded partner around an obstacle course.
We had an absolute blast on Tuesday with RockKidz! We danced our socks off (including the adults) to some fantastic rock music while learning about how awesome we all our. We learned a new saying, ‘YASBA’, which stands for ‘You’re Awesome So Be Awesome.’
In art, the children have continued their learning and line drawing inspired by Linda Dawn Lang with Mrs Caroe.
In MyHappyMind, we are learning about our brains and the jobs they help us with.
Have a super weekend, Team 1!
Mrs Weeks, Miss Thomas and Mr Flaherty.
