Team 1 have had a super week. We have spent some more time with our Team 6 buddies, getting to know each other and building bonds. The children have loved having time to play in the woodlands with their buddies, and to share books in the classroom.
In English this week we have been using drama to role-play scenes from our class text,'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers. We have some budding actors in the class, although SM struggled to look 'sad' like the penguin in our book as she was too giddy with excitement with her penguin waddling! Our acting led to some great sentence construction.
In maths, we have been learning how to use 'greater than' >, 'less than' <, and 'equal to' = symbols to compare numbers up to 10. We even used our new maths knowledge in mouse mania to work out the results of a vote for a movie to watch. We worked out that the greatest number of people wanted to watch 'Hotel Transylvania 2'.
In science this week, we explored seasonal changes. We went for a walk to look for clues telling us which season we are in. Nothing got past our season detectives, and we found out that the season is autumn. On our return to the classroom, we used our new knowledge to represent the season on a drawing of a tree, using beautiful autumnal colours. We will add to this piece of work throughout the year as we explore the signs of the seasons, and how day length varies.
In their independent learning time the children have applied their new learning to the challenges set, and are working hard to record this learning in their independent learning journals. It is lovely to see how well the children apply their knowledge, and how much pride they take in their journals, with lots of children wanting to share their learning with peers and adults.
Have a wonderful weekend, Team 1!
Mrs Weeks, Mrs Butters and Miss Evans.
