What a way to end our week! We have had the most wonderful morning getting active at the Multiskills event at Frodsham Manor House Primary School. The children were absolutely fabulous and we were so proud of them. For most children this was their first school trip, and first time on a coach, and we had a great journey there with excited giggles. I am sure they will tell you all about it, but there are some photos on Twitter for you to see.
Also this week, we have been sequencing a story in English and creating short narratives using all of the writing skills we have been learning. We also used simple description to describe an alien creature.
In geography, we learned the compass directions and a simple way to remember them: Never Eat Shredded Wheat!
In maths, we have continued our unit on addition and subtraction by identifying ‘fact families’: all of the addition and subtraction facts which are related eg.
12 + 6 = 18
6 + 12 = 18
18 – 6 = 12
18 – 12 = 6
We even wrote these on the tables. Mrs Butters was not happy having to clean up afterwards! Sorry, Mrs Butters!
In Computing, we learned about computers needing programmes (a set of instructions) to be able to perform functions. The children ‘programmed’ Mrs Weeks to make a jam sandwich. There were lots of mistakes along the way causing sticky fingers, but we managed to de-bug our programme to make the sandwich in the end.
After this, we created programmes using Beebots. They had to find there way from England to Scotland to go on holiday. The children loved this activity and completed it very well.
Have a wonderful, sunny weekend, superstars!
Mrs Weeks, Miss Evans and Mrs Butters.
