It has been such a pleasure to meet your children over the last week and a half! They are such a wonderful bunch, and have done very well at settling into their new classroom with (some) new adults.
We have been looking at the book, The Colour Monster, this week, and talking about the monster’s feelings and what colours are associated with which feeling. We have talked about how our feelings can sometimes feel mixed up, but that we can identify each one by how it makes us feel.
The children have begun writing in their learning journeys, and we have begun our Ready Stead Read sessions in the mornings to learn new sounds each day which the children put into practice with some spelling and reading activities.
In maths, we have been exploring numbers up to 10, and counting amounts from a group of 10. I wonder if they can show you their maths skills at home by counting things!
In RE, we learned about how Hindus celebrate Diwali, ready for our whole school Diwali day and colour run next week. We acted out the story of Rama and Sita, and we have some wonderfully talented actors in our class!
In PE, we began our unit on outdoor and adventurous activities with some team games.
In Geography, we have begun identifying ‘human’ and ‘physical’ features of the world around us. We went outside to see what features we could see around school.
We ended our busy week with Mouse Mania, decorating biscuits with icing, chocolate, honeycomb and sprinkles. A delicious end to a thoroughly enjoyable week!
Have a restful weekend, Team 1, we cannot wait to see you again on Monday!
Mrs Weeks, Mrs Butters and Miss Evans.
