Team 1 wb 8.3.21

Welcome back, Team 1!

What a treat it has been to have our team of superstars back together at last! We were delighted to welcome back the children who had been working from home since January. There were lots of happy faces and catch ups happening this week which was lovely to see.

Our focus has been on re-settling the children into school life and the routine of being back in the classroom this week. We have had some great circle time talks to discuss the change and how we can help each other with our wellbeing.

We have still had time for some great learning though: Our new literacy text is 'The Lion Inside' by Jim Field and Rachel Bright, and this has inspired some descriptive writing on animals and Africa. We even started our own African dance lessons in PE linked to this text.

Miss Thomas and I have been assessing the children in their reading, and all children now have a new reading book to bring home. Just as last term, we will be changing books on a Tuesday and Friday, so please make sure your child brings their book and red reading record on those days. Some children will change their book once per week but this will be communicated separately.

In maths, we are revisiting and then moving forward with our work on addition and subtraction within ten. We have used lots of practical activities and games to build fluency with this before moving to some work in our maths books to record our learning. In the words of IT, "I love maths, when can we do more?".

We have enjoyed plenty time outdoors this week, using the daily mile, woodland and playground to get exercise, fresh air, and provide much needed time to reconnect with friends and build our social skills again.

It has been an absolute joy to have the children back, thank you for your support with this at home.

Enjoy your weekend, Team 1, and we will see you again on Monday.

Mrs Weeks and Miss Thomas.
