What a week Team 1!

Our first full week back of 2024 and we have had an amazing week.

In English, we have been looking at the interesting vocabulary from our new book ‘Grandpa’s Gift’. We have been investigating words such as awning, beneath and unwanted and we matched these to pictures and definitions. We then looked at the word unwanted in more detail and learnt about how the prefix ‘un’, when added to a word, makes the word become the opposite - pack, unpack, wanted and unwanted.

In maths we have been working on our numbers to 20. We firstly looked at the order that these numbers came in and practised writing them. In mastering number this week we have been making numbers over 10 with a 10’s frames and recapping our number bonds.

We started designing our stain glass windows in DT, learnt how to say hello and ask what your name in French and practised keeping a beat in music.

In science, we looked at lots of different animals and tried to group them into fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals and then created a list of the different features of each.

Finally, in PE, we have been creating dance movements based on ‘Growing’ the children loved pretending to be a seed and developing into a flower / plant.

As you can see, a very busy week has been had by Team 1.
