Team 4 Wb 24.2.25

What another busy week we have had in Team 4!
In our English learning this week, we began the week by rereading the stories we had finished at the end of the last half term. Once we had reread them, we then edited them using purple pens correcting any known spellings. We then spent the week developing our knowledge and understanding of sentence structure. We explored a range of sentence types and analysed the key features of these sentences such as list sentences.
In our math’s work this week, we continued learning about fractions. We explored how we can present fractions in different ways such as on a number line, in drawings or with counters. We then used this knowledge to show given amounts in different representations. We then explored finding equivalent fractions and explored how different fractions that are written can be the same amount just shown in a different way.
This week in our spelling work, we explored the homophones their, there and they’re. We explored what each of these homophones mean and how it is important to select the correct one in order to clarify meaning for the reader. You can support this learning at home by asking your child to write a sentence for each of these homophones for example It was their dog.
In our afternoon learning, we continued learning our times tables. This week we were focusing on the three and four times tables. In our science work, we started an observation looking at how eggs are dissolved in different liquids. In music, we continued learning the violin with Jay and in MyHappyMind we started a new unit titled ‘Relate’ which teaches the children how to relate with others and conflict resolution techniques.
A couple of reminders for next week:
On Monday we have our ‘Mile of Coins’ fundraiser. Please send your child in with some coins to help build Team 4’s line.
Please ensure that your child brings in their reading record and book on Monday ready to be checked and swapped. Please also ensure that they have logged five reads in their record for the week gone.
As World Book Day is this Thursday which clashes with our PE day, we are going to rearrange this week’s PE lesson and hold it on Tuesday instead (back to Thursday the week after). Please can you send your child into school in their PE kit on Tuesday this week.
Thursday is World Book Day. Please send your child into school in a costume/outfit linked to a character from a book.
Mouse Mania this Friday is Dodgeball. Your child does not need to bring anything in for this.
Have a wonderful weekend all!
