Team 4 Wb 3.2.25
Date: 6th Feb 2025 @ 11:01pm
What another busy week we have had in Team 4!
In our English learning this week, we finished reading our English text 'Escape from Pompeii'. We learnt that the two main characters (Liv and Tranio) decided to get on a boat owned by a sea merchant so that they could escape the eruption of Vesuvius. We watched a video by the BBC to see what happened when Vesuvius erupted so that we could understand what it was like for people who experienced it. We then created a senses grid to write down what these people would have seen, smelt, heard or felt during the eruption.
In spelling this week, we explored the 'ck' sound. We investigated words that contained this sound and then explored what happened to these root words when we applied a range of suffixes. You can support this learning at home by practising the following words with your child:
- Clicked
- Stacking
- Ticked
- Hacking
- Packed
In maths, we concluded our learning about graphs. We explored a number of different graphs and then spent the week applying our learning in this unit to a range of real life contexts and word problems. Next week we will start our new unit which is all about fractions.
In our afternoon learning, we attended workshops led by RSK to explore neuro-diversity. We learnt that brains all work differently and that neuro-diversity is something to celebrate. We looked at a range of famous people who are nuero diverse and discussed how their diverse minds helped them succeed in different ways. In geography, we started exploring the differences and similarities between where we live in the North West of England and the Bay of Naples where Pompeii is located. In music, we continued learning to play the violin and learnt a new song with Jay with a new chord.
Just a couple of reminders for next week:
Please ensure that your child brings in their reading record and book to be checked and swapped. Please note, we will be benchmarking the children's reading next week so new books might be sent home later in the week once we have finished the assessments.
We have the school Valentines Disco on Monday after school. Please see the school newsletter for more information.
On Thursday we will be completing PE as normal. Please ensure that your child comes to school in their PE kit on this day.
Friday's mouse mania is party games. Children do not need to bring anything in.
Finally, we were due to hold our class assembly on Thursday 27th February. Unfortunately, as I have been off over the last two weeks, we are going to have to reschedule this date for later in the year so that the children have enough time to prepare and show you our wonderful learning. I will be in touch with a new rescheduled date after the half term.
Have a wonderful weekend Team 4!
