Team 4 Wb 6.1.25

Date: 10th Jan 2025 @ 8:45pm

What another busy week we have had in Team 4!

In our English learning this week, we focussed on homophones exploring rules for correctly using /a/ or /an/. We created our own list of rules for using these homophones before exploring when using these homophones in different sentences. We then created our very own sentences applying these words using the rules we created as a class. We then also explored the homophones for /to/, /two/ and /too/ following the same pattern.

In our spelling work this week, we focussed on using the suffix -ion. We looked at the spelling rules for using this suffix and practised using it when creating our very own sentences. You can support this learning at home by practising the following words with your child:

injection

Application

Creation

In maths this week, we concluded our learning about using the column method to multiply. We explored multiplying a three-digit number by a single -digit number (e.g. 346 x 3) where multiple renaming was required. We then began exploring division in preparation for next week’s learning.

In our afternoon learning, we started our new unit all about The Romans. We explored how big the Roman Empire was at the height of its power and how the army contributed towards their success on the battlefield. Please click here to access our new 'Home Learning' grid to see what we will be learning in this new topic this half term and how you can support this learning with your child at home.

In science, we continued exploring sound and created our very own wind pipes. In DEAR time, we continued reading our selected books and in PE we started our new unit which was all about teamwork and what makes an effective team.

A couple of reminders for next week:

After school clubs start this week.

On Monday, please ensure that your child comes to school with their reading record and book so that they can be checked/swapped. Please ensure that your child has logged five reads for the week gone.

On Thursday, we have our next PE lesson. Please ensure that your child comes to school on this day in their PE kit.

On Friday it is ‘Break the Rules’ day (Please see previous correspondence from Mrs Wyatt).
