Team 5: w/b 09.5.16

This week in Team 5 we began our Hot Task for our fantasy portal stories. It was great to see such enthusiasm from the children, who were all extremely keen to transfer their ideas onto paper! 

During our Maths lessons this week we have been practising our number skills and understanding of the equals sign with missing number problems, including with six-digit numbers and decimal numbers. Towards the end of the week we consolidated our knowledge of area by finding the area of composite rectangles.

We began PE on Monday afternoon and Art on Tuesday afternoon. PE will have an athletics focus, which lends itself well to the glorious weather we have been having (hopefully it lasts!). Within Art, we will be focusing upon Mayan print work, relating to our history topic. 

In our topic work this week we created a timeline of key events in Mayan history: I gave the children ownership of which events particularly interested them and the timelines look great!
