Team 5 w/b 1.10.18

This week, we dove into our Anglo Saxons topic to find out about some of the jobs they had.  We had to research our chosen job, then make a job advert to describe what it might have involved.  We're not expecting much interest in the slave jobs!

We've been honing our reading skills this week with a lesson focusing on the main character in our class-book, 'Queen of the Falls'.  We used a character alphabet to decide on appropriate adjectives for the daredevil main character, Annie Taylor, and tried to explain our choices by referring to the text.

In our whole-class Guided Reading session, we looked at different covers for the first Harry Potter story.  We discussed what clues these covers gave about the genre, characters and events in the story.  We found that the US edition's cover gave the most clues about it being a fantasy / adventure story.  

Next week's mouse mania is going into the woodland area.
