Team 5 w/b 7.10.19

This week, Team 5 have been continuing with our work on Queen of the Falls.  We’ve been using drama to imagine how the main character (Annie Edson Taylor) felt at three crucial points in the story.  We then used the drama to write in the first person as Annie, recounting the three events.  We focused on using fronted adverbials and rhetorical questions. 

We’ve also been learning about Abraham Lincoln.  We took notes about key facts from his life, then used a step-by-step tutorial to draw him.  Finally, we wrote what we felt were the most important facts about him in sentences and paragraphs. 

In Art, we made some Pop Art collages and focused on using contrasting colours.  We were lucky enough to have a visit from a real-life children’s author!  He told us all about his books; one of them apparently is going to be turned into a film! 

EW was kind enough to let us read her latest work in progress – a novel inspired by the Borrowers!  Team 5 were blown away and can’t wait for the next chapter!
