Team 5 w/b 9.3.20

Team 5 have had a week filled with warring Vikings and Anglo Saxons!  We’ve been learning about various Anglo Saxon kings, culminating in Edward the Confessor and the Battle of 1066.  We learned about how Edward hadn’t left an official heir, and who the three main contenders for the throne were. 

We learned a bit about each of their claims, discussed what qualities a king needed, then we held a Witan to decide who should be crowned the new king of England.  After much debate, it was declared that William would be king!  It’s a shame we weren’t in charge 1000 years ago as we would’ve avoided all of the battles and bloodshed that followed Harold Godwinson being proclaimed the king!
