In Team Six this week we have been learning about the enslaved people who were moved to the Caribbean islands from the 1600s. The Carribean people then came to Britain in the 1950s and 60s to help us rebuild our cities after WW2.
In English we have started to write letters to Mrs. Wyatt about how we should learn about not just Britain’s triumphs and successes but also their fails and mistakes they have made. We have been trying to use modal verbs and parenthesis in our writing.
In maths we have moved from adding and subtracting fractions to multiplying fractions by whole numbers. We have also looked at after multiplying, converting improper fractions to whole numbers and putting fractions in their simplest form.
In geography we have been using online maps to look at an OS map and a satellite image map side by side to compare them and have a look at our local area, identifying physical and human features around Helsby, Frodsham and then moving out to further exploring the North West of England.
In science we have started looking at grouping animals. We had pictures of different animals and decided in a partner how we would group them.
Our class book at the minute is called Windrush Child and is a fictional story, but based on real life exoeriences. It is about a boy called Leonard who lives in Jamaica with his mum and grandma before he moves to Manchester to be with his dad. He goes through challenges of moving to a new country and facing racism.
We have had a very busy week! Have a good weekend everyone.
