Team 6: wb 9.1.23

Hello everyone! Have a happy Friday, here’s our news from this week.

On Monday: We learnt about Parenthesis ( brackets, dashes and commas). There was also more learning on the Caribbean and Olaudah, a man who travelled the world but was enslaved twice. In reading, we had sessions about our class text High Rise Mystery and our Reading theme for this week was our new spotlight author - Rachel Ignotofsky.

On Wednesday, we used parenthesis for additional information in our writing. We made a weird creature called a Zurbo, a hybrid of 9 creatures. We had to describe the creature carefully. In reading we learnt about Georgia O’Keefe using a text from Rachel Ignotofsky.

On Thursday, we edited a sentence about the Zurbo; correcting all of the wrongs in the sentences that we were given. We had our first swimming session where we were assessed for our groups over the next 9 weeks. 

Today, we learnt about modal verbs: might, shall, can, can’t, could, must, ought, may. In reading we had a session about High Rise Mystery again ad worked on reading for effect. We finished the week with dodgeball for Mouse Mania.
