Reception Wb 17.01.25

Hi everyone!

This week Reception were treated to an unexpected visit from the Fire Service (who were on a routine inspection visit to the schoo). Fire Fighters Nicky and Kev took the time to give the children a little talk about what equipment they carry on the engine and everyone had the opportunity to try out the hose! Unfortunately there was there was a near miss and Mrs Baskeyfield very nearly got soaked!  The children asked lots of question and even saw the blue lights in action.  We also learned to dial 999 if we need the Fire Fighters help, even if we spot a cat that needs rescuing from a tree!

In phonics and literacy we continue our Crocodile Creek story and continue to use our phonics knowledge (including special friends) to write as independently as we can! I have seen some great writing this week!

In Maths we have discovered a staircase pattern when all the numbers are lined up in the correct order, and we have been practising our 1 more counting when playing Snakes and Ladders!
