This week saw Team 5 become introduced to our new class story: FArTHER, by Grahame Baker-Smith. We were all entranced by the vivid illustrations and loved the themes behind the story. Mr Thomas stretched his artistic skills to their limit as he drew the story map to help us remember the text, then the children showed how imaginative they all are as we came up with actions to help us retell the story.
In SMSC, we learned about the story behind the Magna Carta (helped by Disney's Robin Hood!) and how this document has lain the foundations for equality and fairness for almost a quarter of the world's population. We also researched some inspirational people who have endured hardship in standing up for equality and fairness, and we will make presentations about them next week.
On the subject of presentations, the whole class were amazed by our first three Red Bag presentations. From horses to Basketball, via an after-school tutoring programme, Freya, Aarifah and Sean held Team 5 captivated throughout. They will be hard acts to follow next week, but Luke's promise of videos of African wildlife will surely prove a hit, and Edward and Crimea's mystery topic has us all intruiged.
Next week's Mouse Mania is...outdoor hide and seek!
Have a wonderful weekend, everybody!
