Hi everyone!
Another lovely week in Reception!
Our last week of Polar / Winter themes - we started the week with a look at a lovely story 'Lost and Found'. The children really enjoyed acting out this story, pretending to be the boy taking a lost penguin home to the South Pole in a (cardboard)! boat. We love boxes in Reception! The children loved working together to recreate the story! We also worked hard later on this week to free some mini bears that had become frozen in some ice castles with all the bad weather! We used gentle tools such as paint brushes and sticks to try and melt the ice but we discovered that salt and water (hot or cold) worked best!
In literacy we have been working on our character descriptions, talking and writing about the owl in The Gruffalo having 'big wings' and the fox having a 'long nose'. All your help practising phonics with the children at home is really paying off now so thankyou! Maths has been all about number bonds this week - using the 5 little speckled frogs song to work out how many are on the log and how many are hiding UNDER the pool! The children enjoyed singing this and using their fingers to match the song. All answers led to 5!
Chinese NY next week!
