Team 4 Wb 6.5.24

Date: 11th May 2024 @ 7:16pm

What another busy week Team 4 have had!

In their English learning this week, the children finished writing the final paragraphs of their stories. They wrote about the volcano erupting, how the islanders reacted and finally what happened to the island many years after the eruption. It was a real privilege to read the children’s ideas and hear some of the wonderful vocabulary that they used.

In spelling this week, the children have been exploring common exception words. These are words that are not necessarily spelt  how they sound. You can help your child at home with by practising the following key words:

  • Pressure
  • Probably
  • Promise
  • Purpose
  • Quarter
  • Question

In maths, the children started a brand new unit learning all about shape. The children explored the concepts of perimeter and area and used a range of practical apparatus and visual prompts to help them to understand these ideas.

In their afternoon learning, in geography, the class created their very own route that they would take a tourist on when walking through Chester. They picked six of their own places to take a guest, looked at their position on a map before they planned a walkable route. In DT, the children worked with Mrs Coman-Jones to design their own fruit salads and in DEAR Time, this children continued reading their chosen books.

A couple of reminders for next week:

  1. Please ensure reading books and records are brought into school on Monday so that they can be checked/swapped.
  2. Please continue practising times tables with your child in preparation for the upcoming Multiplication Tables Check.
  3. Mouse Mania next week is: Bikes and Scooters (please ensure children bring a helmet)
  4. PE is back to normal on Monday so please ensure your child comes into school in their PE kit on Monday.

Have a lovely weekend Team 4!
