Reception - WB 9.10.23

Hi all,

We have been working hard in Ready Steady Read this week and have learnt the sounds 'f,b,u,e'. We've been practicing to recall all the sounds which we have learnt so far and use these sounds to make and read simple words on our magnetic boards. The children are getting really good at hearing the sounds and blending them together to read a 3 letter word. We've also been practicing hearing the initial sounds in words. You can practice at home by playing eye-spy.

This video on the link below is also great for practicing the sound-blending skill:

In maths we have been continuing with our Mastering Number sessions. This week, the children have explored how numbers can be composed of 1s and, from this, begin to investigate the composition of 3 and 4. Composing and de-composing numbers involves children investigated part–whole relations, e.g. seeing that 3 can be composed of 1 and 2. Children have learnt from practical experience that a ‘whole’ is made up of smaller parts and is, therefore, bigger than its parts.

We have continued learning about the season Autumn during our curriculum afternoons, but this week have taken a EAD route of learning. We've been learning different Autumn songs and have been playing simple musical instruments.

We're looking forward to our trip to Delamere on Monday.

Have a great weekend.

Mrs Davies
