This week we've been back to business, after such as busy and fun science week last week!

In English we have been writing our hot task stories based on the story structure from The Lion Inside and using a stimulus of the jungle. It can be very tricky writing a story and remembering all of the basic writing skills such as capital letters, full stops, finger spaces etc etc, but the children have completed some fantastic stories! Watch out for our display going up soon! We have also made a start on our new English unit instructions, which is based on the story 'The Little Red Hen'. We made some bread following the instructions, ready to learn how to write them!

In maths we have been counting backwards to 20 and also learning how partition and represent numbers into tens and ones. We used the part part whole grids to do this and the Numicon. We have focused a lot of reasoning this week when completing our place value work, ensuring we explain in detail how we got our answer.

During our afternoon learning we have been learning about Palm Sunday in RE, finding out about seasonal changes from winter to spring in science and have been learning to weigh using the balancing scales!!

Have a great weekend,

Miss Steensmiley
