Team 1 wb 13.9.21

Date: 17th Sep 2021 @ 12:37pm

Team 1 have had another super week of learning and fun. The children are loving their art sessions with Mrs Caroe, and continued learning about the art of Linda Dawn Lang.

In English, the children have been working hard on using finger spaces between words, by cutting up sentences to show where the spaces should be. The class have also produced some lovely writing about how Hindus celebrate Diwali, linked to our RE topic on Hinduism. This, of course, ended in our very exciting Diwali Day on Friday.

For Diwali Day, the children spent some time in Team 2 with Miss McMuldroch making Diya lamps to show that Hindus celebrate the triumph of light over darkness. Back in Team 1 with Mrs Weeks, the children learnt a Diwali dance and made traditional sweets eaten at Diwali. They will bring these home today (if they haven’t eaten them all!).

In maths, we have been counting forwards and backwards within 10 and learning how to represent numbers of objects using counters and ten frames.

We went outdoors to check on ‘George the Tree’ for our science this week. Mrs Weeks is taking a photo of George every week when she arrives at school. This week George had all of his green leaves, and was in the daylight. We will be looking at seasonal changes including the length of days over the seasons using George. What do you think will happen as we move closer to winter?

In PE we continued our adventurous activities playing ‘cross the swamp’ and with some problem-solving games.

Have a super weekend after our colour run! We hope you have all had a wonderful week.

Mrs Weeks, Mrs Butters and Miss Evans.
