This week in Team 1 we have enjoyed spending time in our continuous provision areas with the theme of dinosaurs! We built a bridge outdoors for a dinosaur to cross a swamp, practised blending sounds by stomping on dinosaur footprints, made cosy nests for dinosaur eggs, and created dinosaur landscapes in our wooden blocks. The children were particularly keen to create some impressive volcanoes.
In maths we have continued to look at doubling numbers within 10, and the children are experts at that now. We have been using our speedy fingers to show doubles of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Perhaps the children can show you what we learned at home?
In English we have been writing words and short phrases using our phonics knowledge to describe our dinosaur landscapes.
The children thoroughly enjoyed our skipping workshop, and many children who were not able to skip managed to perfect their technique. This linked to our My Happy Mind work on neuroplasticity, practising something over and over again to make it easier and learn new things. Super learning, Team 1!
