Hello Team 1!

This week we have been enjoying the gorgeous weather as much as possible. We had a great outdoor gymnastics session with the children practising their travelling techniques, and adding some forward rolls and pencil rolls to some routines in small groups.

In English we wrote our very own poetry from the point of view of one of the toys in our class text, 'Toys in Space'. The results were superb, and one of our budding poets featured on Twitter this week reading his poem aloud to the class. We also used clues to discover the title of our new class text, 'Goldilocks and Just the One Bear'. Instead of being set in a woodland, this book is set in the big city. We have learned about adjectives being describing words, and written about the sounds we can hear in the big city.

In maths, we have been finding one more and one less within 50. The children have used a range of resources to support their learning, such as tens frames, bead strings, Numicon, hundred squares, number lines and dienes. They are geting very good at identifying the number of 'tens' and 'ones' in a number. Well done, maths detectives! Keep counting...

In science, we found out what we already know about plants (which was a lot!). We then thought of some things we want to find out, and these questions will inform our learning this half term. As scientists, we are always looking to answer questions, and one of the questions the children came up with was 'how do plants grow'? In order to answer this we could think of nothing better than to plant our own seeds to see what happens over time. You might see our bean plants beginning to sprout in our classroom window soon.

Wishing you all a very sunny and happy weekend!

Mrs Weeks.
