Team 2 wb 12.10.20

Date: 16th Oct 2020 @ 4:00pm

What another magnificent week in Team 2! We have had a tough week with assessments this week in maths and reading but we tried really hard and we are very proud of our efforts!

In maths this week, we have focussed on counting in 2s, 5s and 10s practically and on number lines. We have been spotting patterns between them as well as solving practical problems with groups of 2,5 and 10.

In English, we have been planning and begun to write our very own diary entries for a space flight. We have had lots of fun acting the different parts out and using actions to help us remember our sentences.

What a day we had on Thursday! World maths day was so much fun! Walking into an empty classroom with a huge pile of cardboard boxes was very exciting indeed! Our investigation was whether space travel is possible without maths and we had some brilliant ideas. We investigated the problem by building a space station for the character in our book, Rocket. We started to build but quickly discovered that we needed maths to help us! We had to measure how tall and wide Rocket was to make sure the space station was tall enough and the rooms were long enough. We also had to use this information for doorways and used metre rulers to measure the height of the windows so that she could see out. It was such a brilliant day and we saw amazing teamwork too!

Well done for all your amazing work this week Team 2- I am a very proud teacher!

Have a great weekend!
