Team 3 W/C 3rd May

Date: 6th May 2022 @ 5:02pm

Hi!

We hope you all had a lovely bank holiday weekend and enjoyed the extra day at home. The children were back at it and straight into their learning on Tuesday. We have continued to learn about fractions in maths and it is fair to say that it has been a tricky week. The focus has been on placing fractions on a number line and finding fractions of amounts. If you would like to do any additional home learning with your children, I would encourage these areas as a starting point.

In English we have started the new book 'Big Blue Whale' by Nicola Davies'. It is a non-fiction book that, upon first glance, looks like it is going to be fictional. However, after reading the blurb on the back we soon realised that every wonderful word written is true. We have continued to learn how to accuratetely punctuate speech and have been using these skills to write a dialogue between characters.

In RE, we continue to learn about Islam and enjoyed an assembly this afternoon which taught us more about Ramadan and Eid Ul Fitr. Hopefully your child(ren) have come home with their 5 promises for good deeds they are going to do over the next few days at home. Please encourage them to fulfil their promises and if possible, take photos and email them to ghulse@hornsmill.sch.uk  and send a note back so we can celebrate their achievements with the rest of the school. Looking at the all the promises they have made, we think all the parents and grandparents can take the weekend off from the household chores! :)

Have a great weekend!
