This week in Team 3...

In our English lessons we have been innovating our class story 'Traction Man'. Using the story mountain structure, we have been writing a paragraph at a time, remembering to include all the writing features and vocabulary we have learnt. We have also been practicing to become self-editors checking our spellings and punctuation, then asking a friend to check my writing as well.

This week in our Maths lessons we have been learning how to tell the exact time. We have been using our clocks to help us understand the difference between the hour and minute hands and writing the time on blank clock faces. We have also been learning a little poem to help us remember how many days there are in each month of the year. Mr Garnett says he learnt this poem when he was at school 'Thirty days have September'. We have also been learning the number of days in a year and leap year.

In our afternoon learning we have been learning how to ask questions in French and responding with an answer. We played different games to help us learn the vocabulary for 'What is your name?' and then responding accordingly. The class enjoy learning another language and look forward our weekly lessons. In addition to this, the class have been continuing our learning on the Ancient Egyptians. We have started to look at the different jobs people had during this time period and comparing them to jobs people have now. We are also very excited for class trip to the Egyptian exhibition at Manchester Museum next week and can't wait to see real life Egyptian artefacts and discover more about this exciting topic. Finally in Forest Schools, we have also been planting some vegetables in our patch and will be doing some observing over time for a science investigation based on plants.

That's all for this week.
